Car quest between car clubs

October 13, 2008 · A discussion from the forum archive

On Friday evening, October 10, 2008, "AutoPortal" organized a car quest between car clubs. It involved 13 teams of 4 people each. You can see the event report and the names of the winners here. Thank you to everyone who participated. Congratulations to the winners! We would be glad to see your impressions and comments about the event in the comments section.
We participated for the first time and, although we didn't take a prize place, the impressions remained exclusively positive. Thanks to the organizers — we look forward to the continuation.
The continuation will definitely be released in December, and then — one game per season.
There is an opportunity to prepare more thoroughly. By the way, I represent the Logan Club — I am on the board and oversee relations with other clubs. On our forum, I have the same nickname.

My advice: if you want to practice and gain experience, it's worth driving around in other projects a bit before the game ;)

For the future, there is a request of this kind — to distribute the prize fund more smoothly. Otherwise, the guys from the Captiva club (Syndicate) received prizes the same as for third place... that's unfair. And also my opinion: many teams would simply be pleased to receive something like certificates or something similar, and for prize positions — medals or cups.

Thank you for the hint and I support your wishes.
We will take all your wishes into account in the next quests — we will be glad to see you again.
Logan Club will definitely appear. For my part, I can allocate one prize — two radios for the winners.
what radio stations?? ))
If choosing between Talkabout Midland and Motorola — both are great for a quest. We played on them ourselves, so it's tested.
mid 850 or 950 is just right ;)
Midland LXT-410 is in no way inferior, even despite the lack of camouflage. The specifications are identical.
Yeah, our forum here isn't very lively.
How will the upcoming quest differ from the previous one?
I believe, I know and I am sure — it will be much brighter. One question interests me: Anton, from what position will you start?
Yes, by the way... Do you accept suggestions for the starting point? I don't really want to argue with security. Maybe the parking lot near the WWII Memorial?
Well, it's still worth thinking about the choice of location. VDNKh is an option, although 'Blockbuster' wasn't bad either. And I, it seems, am already late for my security shift.
The starting point has not yet been finally chosen — it will be a surprise.

A surprise would be if the start turns out to be right at my doorstep. And then try not to please.
aren't you afraid that your neighbors will hate you forever?? ))
No, I'm not afraid! The only thing I really fear is if they decide to participate with us. Then there will be far more than fifteen cars.
Everyone is ready))))) Waiting, starting positions)))) The suspense is growing!!!
It's about time to announce the starting point, otherwise it looks wrong.
Yes, let's demand to announce the starting location))))
Parking near the philharmonic on European Square.
Exactly, at the bottom, by the stairs, when you climb up to the rainbow? Seems like there's very little space there.
This is the parking lot on the left if you stand facing the philharmonic. There are two more further on, and there are plenty of spaces there.
The entire left side is one continuous parking area, so there will definitely be enough space for everyone.
well, two people already know where the start is))))) and the rest.....?
Others know too, but they keep quiet))
Thank you to the organizers for the game. Everything went great: dynamic and interesting. The main feature is the contrast of tasks and the need to step away from standard logic. Thanks to the opponents too. Mitsyky — well done, keep it up. BMW and Shkoders didn't push hard enough, but it happens. Special thanks to the team — Anyuta, Salex, and Vitya for contributing ideas. Among the downsides — only the long transfers, too long. On such sections, the car's power matters, and, for example, the Lanos club doesn't have it. The same Lanos will cover 15 km in 15 minutes, while a Pajero will do it in 5–7.
Hee-hee))) Respect)))) The most powerful Pajero with a 3.8 volume - 250 horses, accelerates in 11 seconds to 100 km/h, which is 1 second faster than a Lanos 1.5 - 86 half-dead donkeys)))))))) only that's on a straight line, but if you look at how the Lanos takes a turn on 15-inch wheels, and the same Pajero - everything becomes clear ---- you won't get away from me in the city on a Pajero))))))) (a friend has a Pajero with a 3.2 volume ... personally raced, on asphalt, it only overtakes on first gear, it's not a Cherokee with an SRT8))), and even the point is not in racing, far from it, in the last game if my memory serves me right, the Mazda club was in the 6th MPS, and what??? they are not in the list of winners..... Mitsus - well done, I agree, the guys know how to play, at a higher level.....We were very satisfied with the game.........Organizers ..... Special thanks to you)))) I hope it will be even more interesting in spring....
Thank you for the warm words — this time, it seems, it turned out noticeably better than last time, and by spring we are preparing something even more interesting. As for speed — I fully support it. This is a quest where speed must work in tandem with brains, so everyone has equal chances. And if you haven't figured out the task, no speed will save you. Thanks to everyone for participating, we look forward to seeing you at the spring "AutoSurfer". I also want to touch on one point: the fact that the Škoda club (with the Captiva in its ranks) left the finish without notifying the organizers is simply disrespectful both to other participants and to us. Unfortunately, next time we will not be inviting these guys.

Hmm, how to put it… Pajero at 180 km/h in Kyiv is quite comfortable, but Lanos would need a parachute to brake. Well, okay, at the next meet we'll either come under the flag of another club, or just repaint one car as a Fiat.

Pajero to brake from 180 will need 2 parachutes ))
Aha... three... tank...
I'm not trying to prove that someone's car is worse......
It's just that usually for light quests they make small transfers so that the car doesn't matter at all... and as for the fact that the quest is a race... well... did everyone sign a paper at the start? I'm not saying that everyone drove by the rules, but how can you organize races "by the rules.."
It's just that in this game there is no statistics, where after analyzing the game you would see who and how much was losing at speed ;)

Well, well, try stopping three tons at a speed of 180. For an extra fee, I can give you a ride around Kyiv in a Lanos at the same speed.

Come on, no one was going to prove whose car is better. It's not about speed. If you don't know where to go, even a Ferrari won't help — I'd get there faster on foot because I know the way.

The point is different: someone thought for a long time, someone's equipment let them down, someone ran slowly, and someone just didn't work out. Besides, the weather wasn't the most suitable for racing.

Okay, I won't prove anything. Over time, you'll understand what I was talking about — experience will put everything in its place.
By the way, we will keep statistics for the spring quest — it will be visible who completed which task online. Each club will have its own login and password.
That's great. Anton, did you find the "Kalina" club? Is everything okay there?
Yes, as soon as you left the finish, we also started packing up, and then they drove up — their phone had just died. We handed them the prizes, chatted a bit, and went our separate ways. So everything is fine.
Will photos and tasks from the game appear on the site?
Already posted
Agas)))) Waiting for spring.......and Fiat Pajero..........)))))))))))))))))))))))
Nyu-nyu )))
We also have a Lanos in the club as a replacement, with a three-liter turbocharged engine under the hood. No offense, because the game was fun and interesting. In the spring, we'll meet as our friendly team, and I'm sure we'll have a great time again. Good luck to everyone, happy upcoming holidays, and see you again.
The car here determines almost nothing. The game itself was enjoyable, but for the second time we arrived before the agent.
In the photos, honestly, I came out so-so, although in reality I am quite good-looking.
No offense, no matter what you came in, remember Montana's number — AA four digits EE. It's simply not visible from the front.
No offense, but the game was really fun and great. In the spring we'll meet with our friendly team, and I'm a hundred percent sure we'll have a great time again. Good luck to everyone, happy upcoming holidays, and see you again! The game was great, thanks to everyone for participating. See you at the searches!

AA four digits EE, because you can't see it from the front!!!
What offense could there be. It's clear you've taken part in quests more than once. Well, well, at the next start we'll have to tweak a couple of little screws so that AA****EE doesn't drive so fast. Just kidding, of course.
Finally, we've been waiting for this. And maybe I missed something — what's the theme here?
thank you, we will take everything into account!
Can I ask a question? When will the summer game be?
Hello everyone! I just registered. I would gladly take part in a quest. Is there anyone among the organizers who can respond? And in general, what else is happening in the club?

The quest will take place on October 9! It's time to start active training.

Tell me, how does this work: how are teams formed and what is needed to become one of the quest participants? Thanks in advance.
Rules for participation in the fourth AutoPortal quest will appear soon. You can learn how the three previous auto quests went on this page.
You can already register for the quest!
Only 2 days left.
