I'm choosing a car for daily city trips, and fuel consumption is far from the last thing on my mind. I really like the Volkswagen Jetta. For the version with a diesel engine, they ask $2000 more. Question: what are the advantages and disadvantages of diesel compared to a gasoline engine? Thanks in advance.
Gasoline or diesel.

Among the advantages are the engine's fuel efficiency, and earlier diesel was also cheaper than gasoline.
In Jetta, the base 1.9 diesel is an engine already proven by time and calmly handles our fuel. But for active driving it is somewhat weak, although in the city it is quite sufficient.
If the main criterion is fuel economy, then the choice is obvious: diesel. With a measured driving style and a 1.9 engine, it is realistic to fit even into 6 liters. However, it is worth refueling only at trusted gas stations. Among the drawbacks — it is slightly noisy.
Diesel is for SUVs. Gasoline is for sports cars. For everyone else — solar panels.
The downside of diesel engines is increased noise and expensive maintenance.
