maps for navigation (smartphone)

Depends on the specific phone model. It may be worth considering universal Google Maps cards.

For 97-octane gasoline, Garmin maps are quite decent, and Yandex also has a good option.
Testing Yandex. Thanks for the advice. And has anyone heard anything about Ovi? Are the maps there any good? They're being discussed so actively that it's already getting scary.
In general, I read a review about Ovi. Opinions, of course, were divided, but I decided to try it and did not regret it. I tested for a long time, but the conclusion is one — excellent. Why?
1. You can save favorite places and routes (an account is required).
2. Search for addresses and places of interest, such as restaurants or hospitals.
3. View cities and countries around the world, including satellite images.
4. Sync favorites on a compatible mobile device with an account.
5. And, of course, the weather forecast.
The main problem with Ovi is that installing a map on a phone is hit or miss, about fifty-fifty: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Nokia is currently trying to solve this problem, and perhaps it will be fixed in the near future.
autodima, thanks for the advice. Since then, I've actually bought a Nokia 2710 and use navigation on it.
Phone with a holder and very convenient voice prompts — you hardly have to look at the screen.
does anyone else use navigation on their phone?
I've been using Ovi Maps on the N97 mini for almost a month. Overall, they're not bad, but there are some drawbacks.
and will they work on Nokia 2710 too?
Do you only read the latest messages in the thread? ; )
Here's an interesting navigation test drive from Nokia!
Took a look, the article seems decent. They say the maps have become better.

well, I read somewhere in a review...
obzor mojet but' i nepravdivym
i.e. the cards are really bad?
I didn't say that. I just doubt they've gotten better.
you've got me confused) what are they like then?
let's say they've reached a new level
clarify: to the level of convenient use, now the map in the form it should have been originally. OVI is 100% a competitor to Garmin
