Porsche Cayenne: premium crossover with outstanding characteristics

Porsche Cayenne is a mid-size premium crossover from the German brand. It became the company's first model since 1995 to be equipped with a V8 gasoline engine. The car was named after the capital of French Guiana — Cayenne.

The model was one of three developed jointly by engineers from Porsche, Volkswagen and Audi in 2002. On the common platform, the Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg were first released, and three years later the Audi Q7 was built on it. The crossover's exterior, designed by Steven Murkett, initially received mixed reactions from brand fans. They disliked the extravagant exterior, especially compared to the more practical Touareg. The model was predicted to fail, but the forecasts did not come true: under the unusual exterior hid excellent handling (thanks to a specially developed suspension) and reliable powerful engines.

First generation (2003)

The official debut of the Porsche Cayenne took place in 2003 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. At the same time, the "charged" versions Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo were introduced. Later, the Cayenne GTS modification appeared.

Second generation (2010)

The second generation Porsche Cayenne was presented in 2010 at the Geneva Motor Show. The car became larger, received a longer wheelbase and design elements from the Carrera GT and Panamera models (headlights, interior details). The Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo and Cayenne GTS versions were updated, and a hybrid modification was also released.

In Ukraine, the second generation appeared at the end of 2010. All versions were available, including the hybrid. The car is equipped with gasoline engines (4.8 liter displacement, different power modifications), a diesel engine (3.6 liters) and a hybrid (3.0 liters). They are paired with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic with manual shifting. Drive — all-wheel drive.
