The Nissan Xterra became the first mid-size crossover from the Japanese brand to appear on the North American market. It debuted in 2000, and sales began at the same time. The vehicle was built on the F-Alpha platform and was named after the X-terra off-road competitions sponsored by Nissan.
Currently, the second generation of the model, introduced in 2005, is in production. Under the hood is a 4.0-liter V6 gasoline engine, paired with either a five-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual. Drive can be rear-wheel or all-wheel.
