Renault Scenic Conquest. Conqueror

Renault has introduced a new version of its Scenic compact MPV in Russia. The version has been named Conquest, which means "conquest." It is aimed at an energetic young audience.

Cars, like people, sometimes undergo transformations. This aesthetic French van suddenly turned into an off-road conqueror. A similar modification already existed in the late nineties based on the previous Scenic — then the aggressive RX4 body kit was combined with all-wheel drive. The current version is devoid of such luxury.

In essence, the Conquest is a well-equipped Dynamique with all its advantages: climate control, chip card, and heated seats. But it also has its own highlights. Inside, it has become noticeably fresher and more interesting: orange seat belts, seats with contrasting stitching, leather steering wheel and gearshift knob. A funny pattern of the same shade appeared on the center console. Such detailing is appealing.

The plastic body kit all around will protect the body from scratches from branches in the forest. In the city, this protection will help against accidental contact with carts or doors of neighboring cars in a crowded parking lot. Thanks to the almost crossover-like ground clearance of 188 mm and 16-inch wheels, the van easily climbs curbs and crosses protruding roots.

The only thing that restricts freedom of movement is the lack of all-wheel drive: the Conquest remains front-wheel drive.

Driving
The dynamics are pleasing, there is enough power in gears, and the brakes work excellently.

Interior
Spacious, easily transformable, many compartments for small items; but the plastic looks cheap.

Price
The Conquest is 31,800 rubles more expensive than the Dynamique. This money, perhaps, could be spent more usefully.

Pros and cons
+ Practicality, refreshed exterior and interior, decent dynamics.
– Overpriced, poor set of active safety systems.
