Daewoo Nexia New — from 244,000 rubles.

For fourteen years, the model lived under a sentence of "no right to remake," and now, finally, this verdict has been declared erroneous. The acquitted Nexia immediately rushed to make up for lost time, absorbing a load of design solutions and technical innovations worth more than $10 million.

In the nineties, this car was called nothing less than "the country's first foreign car." It was, of course, far from the luxury of the "six hundredth," but it was Nexia that gave thousands of drivers a taste of the pleasure of owning a new foreign vehicle. The domestic auto industry was in turmoil then, and what came off the assembly lines could hardly be called full-fledged cars.

Against this bleak backdrop, the arrival of Nexia became a real window to Europe. The price was affordable, the equipment was richer than that of the Zhiguli, and the quality was almost impeccable. That was enough to win nationwide love. But, as the classic noted, love alone is not enough for a long life. Nexia's production life dragged on. The set of qualities that drove Zhiguli owners crazy in the 90s is now clearly insufficient. The car hunger has been replaced by abundance, and Daewoo Nexia has finally responded to the changes.

External changes can be described as "restrained conservatism": bumpers, radiator grille, trunk lid, and rear lights have been redesigned. The front optics have acquired more modern shapes, and there is even a hint of "xenon shine." In reality, the lamps are ordinary halogen, but the lenses create the desired effect.

Inside, the metamorphoses are much more serious. The predecessor's interior seemed designed by a Spartan: nothing extra, everything modest, almost camp-like. The restyling, however, added a touch of sybaritism to the interior. Owners of premium models, of course, won't appreciate this, but the price after the rejuvenation has remained the same! Those looking for a new car for reasonable money will surely be pleased with the standard Clarion audio system, better materials, and the styling itself. Airbags, like other life protectors, are still absent. However, this technological asceticism is partly justified by the modest engines (75–105 hp). They don't encourage racing, but they meet the Euro 3 standard.

A quick glance is not enough to understand whether these changes will be sufficient to compete in a dense competitive environment. But we will definitely tell you about that soon.

History reverse

The licensed ancestor of Daewoo Nexia was the last-generation Opel Kadett, launched in 1984. Its characteristics commanded respect, and its aerodynamics were the best in its class: the European jury of the 1985 Car of the Year competition named it Car of the Year. Later, this extended the Kadett's life, albeit under the Korean flag.

Driving

Even the 105-horsepower version has to be constantly "revved up" to extract acceptable dynamics. The steering lacks precision, and body roll in corners is frightening in its magnitude.

Interior

Moderately comfortable and equally ergonomic. For example, the MP3 player has to be operated by touch.

Comfort

The memory of the price significantly increases the level of comfort in the car.

Safety

There isn't even ABS here.

Price

This parameter has always been a saving grace for the model, and it remains so to this day.
