Lincoln MKT: prices and specifications

1 generations Country of origin: United States

Lincoln MKT is a full-size premium crossover that became the second model of this class in the brand's lineup after the mid-size MKX, released in 2006. In the company's model range, it replaced the Town&Country sedan. The model name stands for "mark" (model) and "touring" (touring).

The idea to create a full-size crossover came from the brand's management due to the good sales of the MKX in the North American market. Additionally, Lincoln aimed to compete with the Audi Q7, Acura MDX, and Infiniti JX, which required a vehicle of the appropriate class. The development of design and technical specifications continued until 2008 — it was then that the concept of the future crossover was presented at the Detroit Auto Show. A year later, in 2009, serial production began.

The vehicle is built on the global Ford D4 platform, which is also used in the Ford Explorer and Ford Flex. The crossover is equipped with Ford engines with EcoBoost and Duratec direct injection systems, and the transmission is also borrowed from Ford. The interior features three rows of seats.

In 2012, the model underwent a facelift. Changes affected the exterior (new radiator grille, front and rear bumpers, adjusted headlights) and the technical part: engines, transmissions, and steering components were modernized. A new adaptive suspension also appeared.

In Ukraine, the updated Lincoln MKT appeared in the fall of 2012. The vehicle is sold in the country unofficially. It is equipped with gasoline engines with a displacement of 3.5 and 3.7 liters. The engines work in conjunction with a six-speed automatic transmission SelectShift Automatic™ with manual shift function. Drive — all-wheel drive.
