Lincoln MKS: model range overview
Lincoln MKS is a full-size sedan that replaced the flagship Town Car model. The name stands for "mark sedan," which aligned with Lincoln's naming convention in the mid-2000s.
After the Town Car sedan was discontinued in 2011, the freed-up assembly line space was taken by the new model. Development of the Lincoln MKS began in 2005 by Ford's luxury division. The exterior and interior design was led by the brand's chief designer, Patrick Schiavone. A prototype was created by 2006 and first shown to the public at the Detroit Auto Show that same year. Unlike its predecessor, the new sedan had a sportier look. The concept's interior design resembled that of another company prototype, the Lincoln Zephyr, introduced in 2004.
The world premiere of the production version of the Lincoln MKS took place in 2007 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Compared to the concept, the production car received a different grille (in a "waterfall" style), as well as different front and rear lights and bumpers. The model was equipped with numerous modern active and passive safety systems, as well as driver assistance systems. The car is built on the upgraded Ford D3 platform. The sedan is equipped with Ford engines featuring EcoBoost technology and corresponding transmissions.
2011 facelift
In 2011, an updated version of the Lincoln MKS was presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The car received a new exterior design and a modified interior. The engines were upgraded: they became more powerful and at the same time more economical. The overall length of the car also increased.
The updated Lincoln MKS began to be imported to Ukraine by unofficial dealers from autumn 2012. The sedan is equipped with a 3.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The car has front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
