GMC Acadia: prices and specifications

1 generations Country of origin: United States

First generation (2007)

GMC Acadia became the first crossover in the history of the brand, which had previously only produced body-on-frame SUVs and pickup trucks. In the brand's model lineup, it replaced the Envoy SUV, which had been produced for ten years. The model was named after the French colony of Acadia, located in the north of North America.

In the mid-2000s, General Motors management decided to add the first crossover to the GMC lineup. This step was revolutionary: in nearly a century of history, the company had never produced a vehicle with a unibody construction, and the new model featured exactly that design.

The world premiere of the GMC Acadia took place in 2007 in Detroit. The vehicle was built on the global GM Lambda platform. It was a full-size crossover with seven or eight seats (including the driver). The model was equipped with an innovative rear suspension with H-shaped arms, providing a more comfortable ride compared to traditional SUVs. The engine was borrowed from the Cadillac CTS, and a new, in-house transmission was developed.

In 2010, a premium version called the Acadia Denali was released. It differed from the standard version with xenon headlights and a full chrome package.

Second generation (2012)

The second generation of the GMC Acadia was introduced in 2012 at the Chicago Auto Show. The vehicle received a new exterior and interior design, rich standard equipment, as well as upgraded engines and transmissions.

In Ukraine, the second generation appeared in the fall of 2012. The crossover was offered in two versions: standard and premium Denali. It was equipped with a 3.6-liter gasoline engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Drive — front or all-wheel drive.
