Daewoo Lanos: prices and specifications

5 generations Country of origin: South Korea

Daewoo Lanos is one of the most successful and long-lived models of the now-defunct Daewoo brand. Its name comes from the Spanish word "Lanos," referring to the ancient Roman god Janus, the patron of doors and passages. For the brand, this model became a symbol of the transition from outdated cars to new ones.

The development of the car, which was to replace the outdated Daewoo Cielo, began in 1993. Specialists from various companies were involved in the project. The design was created by the ItalDesign studio under the direction of Giorgetto Giugiaro. The Italians managed to develop such a successful appearance that it still looks modern today. The model's engines were developed with the participation of specialists from Rochester Products Division, the brake system by Delco Electronics engineers, and the refinement of all concept systems was handled by experts from Porsche. A total of 150 test prototypes were built. In 1997, at the Geneva Motor Show, the production version of the Lanos was presented, on which the company spent over $400 million.

The first generation (T100) was produced in South Korea, Poland, and later in Ukraine and Russia. The car was offered in sedan, three-door, and five-door hatchback body styles. From 1997 to 2002, a convertible version was also produced, but it was later discontinued.

The second generation (T150) was introduced in 2002. Initially, it was produced in three body styles (sedan, three-door, and five-door hatchback), but in 2004, the three-door version was discontinued. Since 2008, the car has been produced only at the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant under the name ZAZ Lanos.

The Lanos (T150) was equipped with gasoline engines of 1.3 and 1.4 liters (Melitopol Motor Plant), 1.4 and 1.6 liters (General Motors), and 1.5 liters (ACTECO). They were paired with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Drive — front.
