Toyota Auris

Toyota Auris is a compact hatchback that replaced the Corolla hatchback first in the European market and then in other markets. The model name translates from Latin as "gold."

First generation

Toyota management decided to separate the Corolla hatchback into a distinct model in 2005. The reason was the growing popularity of such cars in Europe and the desire to attract young buyers. The concept car called Auris space was shown in 2006 at the Paris Motor Show, and the production version went on sale in early 2007. The model was produced in two body styles — three- and five-door hatchback, using the E140 platform from the tenth generation Corolla sedan. In 2008, the car was updated: changes affected the front part, including the grille, headlights, and bumper. The hybrid version of the Auris was introduced in 2010 at the Geneva Motor Show and borrowed the technical components from the brand's first hybrid — the Prius hatchback.

Second generation

The premiere of the second generation Toyota Auris took place in 2012 at the Paris Motor Show. In addition to the familiar three- and five-door hatchbacks, the Japanese introduced a new modification — the Touring Sports station wagon. The car is built on a new platform, received increased body dimensions, as well as new, more powerful and economical engines. Transmissions were also updated, in particular, the MultiDrive S continuously variable transmission appeared.

On the Ukrainian market

In Ukraine, at the time of writing, the facelifted version of the first generation Toyota Auris was sold, which appeared on the local market in 2009. The model was available only in a five-door hatchback body. The car was equipped with two 1.6-liter gasoline engines that worked in conjunction with a six-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Drive — front.
