Tesla Model S: prices and specifications

Tesla S is a full-size electric sports sedan that became the company's second model after the Roadster. Development of the car began in 2008, and a test prototype was shown to the public a year later. The car went into production in 2012, four years after development started. The manufacturer considers this sedan a competitor to the BMW 5 Series.

The model name derives from the word "Star," as it was created under the WhiteStar project dedicated to electric vehicles. The design was handled by Franz von Holzhausen, previously known for his work at Mazda.

The powertrain is a three-phase electric motor with 362 hp, paired with a single-speed automatic transmission. The range is 426 km, and the drive is rear-wheel.
