In 2008, the fully electric sports car Tesla Roadster debuted in California with a striking exterior and interior design. This model became the first production electric vehicle to use lithium-ion batteries, providing a range of 320 km without recharging. In October 2009, the Roadster set a record by covering 501 km on a single charge. Production of the model ended in 2012.
The car was equipped with a three-phase electric motor producing 248 horsepower, paired with a BorgWarner single-speed gearbox.
