A true sports car that is equally good on the race track and on a regular country road cannot be front-engined — that's an axiom. And when it comes to the brand, Porsche is definitely a must.

The Cayman looks fit and muscular, and it's not just the looks: the curb weight of the coupe is only 1350 kg. The engineers thoroughly reworked the technical content, and now every horsepower accounts for only 4.2 kg of weight. The logical result is that every engine assembled in Zuffenhausen is mandatory tested on a dyno, so deviations from the stated parameters are simply excluded.

All this work has yielded excellent results both in terms of fuel consumption and ecology: with 320 hp, acceleration to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, and a top speed of 275 km/h, the sports car's appetite is modest — only 9.2 liters per 100 km. The seven-speed robotic PDK gearbox with two clutches, already familiar from the 911 model, helps unleash the engine's potential. Unlike many analogs, this robot can handle much more torque — in the Cayman S it reaches an impressive 370 Nm, and the clutch allows prolonged wheelspin without the risk of overheating. The driver also has access to the Sport Plus function, which is activated by a button and switches the electronics to the most aggressive shifting algorithm. And if you want to launch as efficiently as possible, Launch Control comes to the rescue.

The standard suspension will suit many, but for those who want more, there is an optional PASM system with electronic damping adjustment. In Normal mode, the car remains quite comfortable, while in Sport it turns into a uncompromising projectile with perfect composure.

Long-distance travelers won't have to sacrifice luggage either: the total volume of the two compartments is almost 400 liters, comparable to the capacity of a regular midsize sedan.

WHAT'S NEW?

The front optics with integrated turn signals visually relate the Cayman to the legendary Carrera GT, and the enlarged air intakes behind the wheels hint at the serious potential of the engine. The rear with LED lights and an active spoiler has become not only more attractive but also more aerodynamically advanced.
