Externally, it's still the same 997 body, but underneath it now hides a completely different filling: a 3.8-liter engine producing 500 horsepower, paired with the PDK robotic gearbox. This tandem immediately makes it clear that we are not just dealing with a facelift, but a serious technical modernization.
If you compare it with the previous classic "automatic" that was on the 911 Turbo before, the difference is colossal. PDK shifts gears so lightning-fast and precisely that you practically don't want to reach for the paddle shifters — the gearbox itself understands what needs to be done.
You activate Launch Control — and the torque momentarily jumps from 650 to 700 Nm, and the start becomes as if you're sitting in a fighter jet cockpit on the runway. All-wheel drive is helped by a self-locking differential at the rear and the PTV system, which brakes the inner rear wheel in corners. At the same time, for driving pleasure, it's not at all necessary to engage the sport suspension: the most powerful Porsche knows how to be obedient and delicate, without shaking your soul out on every bump.
ROBOT WITH PADDLES
The previous range selection buttons have been replaced by paddle shifters of the preselective dual-clutch transmission. But you won't have to grab them constantly — PDK works flawlessly anyway!
