A bright, beautiful, swiftly moving car attracts a lot of interested and envious glances. Yes, the Infiniti G37 sports coupe stands out in the gray stream. The coupe became a continuation of the G35 sedan, as evidenced by common design solutions. If we talk about individuality, then first of all it is worth noting the seemingly inflated fenders, rear spoiler and sills. The interior, trimmed with leather and quality plastic, retained the luxury of the sedan. The center console and door inserts are made of aluminum. Both the driver and front passenger will easily find a comfortable position. In the back, there is also enough space. Two adults of average build can easily sit there. The only thing is that getting into the second row of seats is not so easy. But in a coupe, it cannot be otherwise. The fact that you are in the cabin of a sports car is made clear by the seats with pronounced lateral support, aluminum pedal covers and paddle shifters for manual gear shifting.

The engine is started with the Start/Stop button. The revived car rumbles quite a bit with the exhaust of the V-shaped "six". True, with the windows closed, you will not be able to hear it - the sound insulation in the Infiniti G37 is at the highest level. It is worth noting that the exhaust system of the G37 consists of two equal-length exhaust manifolds with reduced exhaust backpressure at the outlet. As a result, the engine "breathes" easier, runs smoother and sounds great.

We move the automatic transmission lever to "D" mode. The car responds to pressing the gas pedal without delays, but quite smoothly. With intensive use of the accelerator, the automatic quickly downshifts, causing acceleration to become more active. True, in this mode you don't want to drive for long.

Moving the gearbox lever to position "S" changes the character of the car. Reactions to the pedal become faster, and gears are revved up to 7500 rpm. Manual mode does not differ much from the automatic option. With a car weight of two tons, the dynamics of the Infiniti G37 is unlikely to upset even a picky driver. Acceleration to 100 km/h occurs in 6 seconds. The reason for this result lies in the engine refined by engineers. The unit from the G35 was taken as a basis, increasing the volume to 3.7 liters. In addition, systems for hydraulic control of the valve timing mechanism and electronic control of intake valve opening angles (abbreviated as VVEL) were applied. This made it possible to increase engine power to 333 hp, increase torque to 363 Nm, and also reduce fuel consumption and, as a result, emissions of harmful substances. In addition to the introduction of various systems, changes were made to the engine design. For example, the height of the cylinder block, the diameter of the main bearing journal of the crankshaft and studs were increased. A stepped crankcase and a dual knock sensor are used.

Moving in the Infiniti G37 coupe, you constantly feel that you are driving a fast but heavy car. The forces of inertia do not disappear anywhere, but the abundance of auxiliary systems helps to reduce them somehow. The first is the steering wheel. It is dense, even a little heavy, has good feedback. A two-channel hydraulic booster with progressive effort depending on speed is used. The second is the suspension. Rolls, even when taking sharp turns at high speed, are minimal. This was achieved by installing a multi-link suspension on the car front and rear. To reduce weight and effectively dampen unwanted vibrations, some suspension parts are made of aluminum.

The Infiniti G37 coupe is offered in two trim levels, the main difference of which is the presence in the more expensive version of the all-wheel steering system (4WAS). It is difficult to notice its work while driving, but the system's activity is aimed at improving handling. This happens automatically. The 4WAS electronic control unit, depending on the speed and steering wheel rotation, changes the steering gear ratio and the geometry of the rear suspension using built-in drive mechanisms. But even this seemed not enough to the engineers. The G37 in the basic configuration is equipped with a self-locking differential with a viscous coupling (VLSD). When maneuvering, this helps maintain the set trajectory.

Having taken care that the premium coupe Infiniti G37 drives fast, the engineers also took care of effective braking performance. Pressing the pedal is accompanied by intense deceleration. All brake discs are ventilated. The diameter of the front ones is 355 mm, and the rear ones are 350 mm. For better heat dissipation, the calipers are made of aluminum alloy. And for greater braking effect, they are four-piston at the front and two-piston at the rear.

The premium coupe Infiniti G37 is expensive. But the car really looks cool. And the power also obliges to treat it very seriously. Increased attention to this bright car is guaranteed, however, not everyone will be able to see the fast rushing car well

In a new way

The Infiniti G37 coupe has a modern 3.7-liter engine with 330 hp. The donor for this engine was a 3.5-liter unit installed on the sedan. The new engine uses a VVEL system with hydraulic control of the valve timing mechanism and electronic control of intake valve opening angles. This made it possible to increase power, compared with the "younger brother", while reducing fuel consumption and emissions of harmful substances.

Driving
Thanks to the abundance of various systems, the Infiniti G37 both drives and handles perfectly. True, the mass of the car sometimes makes itself felt.

Interior
As befits a premium car, the interior of the Infiniti G37 abounds with luxurious materials.

Comfort
The G37 coupe cannot be called small, so there is enough space in the cabin not only for front passengers, but also for those who get to the second row. Two people are quite comfortable there.

Our opinion

Engineers and designers, as always, took a very serious approach to creating the next Infiniti novelty. The premium coupe G37 looks great, has a solid interior and good dynamic performance. Various modern systems have found their place in the car. A powerful engine and smart suspension allow you to drive this not small coupe very fast and confidently.
