On the one hand, the interior is plain and assembled without much care, the driving position is not very comfortable, the ride cannot be called smooth, and the handling is, so to speak, below average. On the other hand, for this money it is hard to expect something fundamentally different. Between these extremes lie controversial points: how justified is the price and how will the car behave on the secondary market. When the diesel modification appeared, noise and sluggishness were added to the list of drawbacks, and the phantom advantage of fuel economy is shattered by the fact that such a car costs 40,000 rubles more. Still, the diesel Hover might be an interesting option for someone.

FOR BEAUTIFUL EYES
The main thing that attracts in this model is its fresh appearance. After the restyling that happened a couple of years ago, the exterior looks quite modern. The updated rear, noticeably more chrome, reinforced frame and body, changes in the cabin — all this added popularity to the model.

The interior has not changed so dramatically, but black leather with gray plastic is clearly better than those beige-pink materials that were inside the Hover before. However, it has not become more comfortable: the driver's seat has received electric adjustment of the longitudinal position of the cushion, but its front edge cannot be raised, so a tall driver will still be cramped. In the back, there seems to be enough legroom, but the high floor limits the height of passengers — if a fellow traveler is taller than 176 centimeters, they will be uncomfortable on a long journey.

HEIRS OF ISUZU
The engine is a copy of the 2.8-liter Isuzu diesel, supplemented with a common rail high-pressure fuel system and a 16-valve head. It announces its start loudly, shaking the entire body during warm-up. At low revs there is almost no traction. The first hint of pickup appears around 1200 rpm, and the engine really accelerates only up to 3800. For active driving, a narrow range from 1800 to 3200 rpm remains. Fuel consumption meanwhile exceeds the factory promises and averages 13 liters per hundred. Honestly, that is not so much. If it were not for the constant feeling that we are barely crawling and everyone is overtaking us, the appetite would be more modest — I think about 10.5–11 liters. But the diesel Hover is really very slow. We measured acceleration to 100 km/h using GPS — the best result was 22 seconds.

Off-road, a typical problem for Chinese SUVs manifested itself in full — the unsuccessful layout of the underbody. Crossmembers resembling plows of different sizes, units hanging below them, exposed hydraulic and fuel lines, an unprotected tank — all this suggests that you should go into the mud either very carefully, or, on the contrary, headlong and without thinking about the consequences. Of the electronics, there is only ABS and parking sensors.

The diesel GW Hover in the "super luxury" version (with sunroof and leather interior) costs 685,000 rubles. This is cheaper than most SUVs, including Korean diesel crossovers from Hyundai or Kia. True, they will give it a head start both on asphalt and off it.
