What is more important – dynamics or fuel efficiency? Best of all, of course, is to combine one with the other. The Ford Fiesta with a diesel engine confidently follows this principle.

In the era of total economy, a 1.6-liter turbodiesel under the hood of a car shorter than four meters may seem like a luxury. But in the case of the Fiesta TDCi, this is not so: the combination of chassis and engine here turned out to be exceptionally successful. Driving brings a lot of pleasure, and thanks to the car's modest appetite, fuel costs will not be burdensome.
SIGNS OF QUALITY
The interior uses quality materials, and assembly is done at a high level.
STYLISH – CONVENIENT
The modern and practical Fiesta is suitable for any situation. Thanks to its compact size, maneuvering in dense city traffic is easy, and the spacious interior allows for quite long trips. The driver's seat is well organized: the steering wheel stands almost vertically, the gear lever is raised on the tunnel, and there are plenty of adjustments with wide ranges.
The dashboard looks impressive, but style sometimes conflicts with convenience: the buttons on the central console are so tightly packed that pressing them blindly is problematic. The headlight switch, located to the left of the steering column, constantly hides behind the steering wheel rim. But there are no complaints about the quality of the interior trim. Although the manufacturer claims five seats, rear passengers are a bit cramped both in length and width. Moreover, the second row has no longitudinal adjustment, so it is impossible to change the ratio of space for passengers and luggage.
It is comfortable to sit in the front seats, but in the back row you cannot boast of space: there is not enough knee room, and the width reserve is also small. The trunk volume corresponds to the class, but the high loading height adds hassle.
ALWAYS READY
Under the hood hides 90 horsepower. Their number is not impressive, but they are always ready to accelerate the car. You can be sure: the reaction to pressing the gas pedal will be almost instantaneous, without the pause typical of diesels. Of course, when the revs reach 1800 rpm, acceleration becomes noticeably more confident than at the very bottom. However, even at 1000 rpm the engine does not act up — the car, albeit unhurriedly, confidently picks up speed.
It is no secret that the Fiesta knows how to please the driver. The precise and informative steering wheel, along with a chassis ideally balanced between handling and comfort, make the car an excellent choice both for city streets with their various bumps and for country roads with frequent sharp turns.
WEIGHTY ARGUMENT
Lively dynamics usually mean frequent visits to the gas station. The diesel Fiesta eliminates this problem. In addition to being ready to instantly respond to the accelerator, it also takes care of the owner's wallet. The numbers speak for themselves: at a speed of 130 km/h, the car is content with only 6.7 l/100 km. The average figure is no less encouraging — 6.1 l/100 km.
It remains to rejoice for Europeans who do not have to worry about fuel quality. It is harder for us in this regard. On the one hand, it is difficult to deny yourself the pleasure, but on the other... However, there are two weighty reasons for optimism. First, Ford has been successfully selling diesel modifications here for many years. Second, the quality of diesel fuel, albeit slowly, is steadily improving.
USEFUL ENERGY
From the front, from the back, in three-quarter view. Even from above. From any angle, the Fiesta radiates a charge of vigor.
LIKES
Obedient behavior. Excellent combination of comfort and driving pleasure. Engine. Smooth, even and powerful traction. Low consumption in all modes.
DISLIKES
Stability control system – optional. It is only available for an extra charge, even on this not cheap version. The price is $760 (6,075 UAH). Fixed rear seat. If it could be slid forward and backward, the Fiesta would become even more convenient.
