Before us is the updated version, which differs from its predecessor with a redesigned interior and a fresher automatic transmission. Otherwise, everything is as before, but the key remains unchanged: a V-shaped "eight" with 4.6 liters. The engine produces 320 horsepower, 425 Nm of torque, and roars so that in the frost people look out of office windows. Laymen just stare, but those who understand immediately recognize by the sound — "American," V8. The car reaches the first hundred in 7.2 seconds, and consumes at least 18 liters per 100 km.
18-inch wheels, of course, can be replaced with 20-inch ones. But is it necessary?
Three meters of wheelbase – they interfere. The suspension is compromise. The electronics are not for off-road
PAINT THE BUTTON WITH PHOSPHORUS
Inside, the premium interior pleasantly surprises, though it actively creaks. They say that its creation used a new technology combining high tech with manual labor. That is commendable. The comfort is organized well: trim materials have become softer, the front panel has been adjusted. But in this diligence, they hid the hazard warning button and messed with the seat heating. However, all this pales before the rear window wiper button. I would call it the Sabaoth toggle or a biblical switch. The principle of operation is as follows: you need to raise your index finger to the sky and poke it at the ceiling. And be sure to read a prayer from the owner's manual.
The creators of the updated SRX, touting "excellent ergonomics and luxury," did not even bother to raise the multimedia system screen higher on the front panel. As a result, the beautiful, homey interior clearly lost in functionality.
Design like the F117 Stealth attack aircraft, and the agility, by the way, is also – 7.2 seconds to a hundred
This V8 bears the romantic name Northstar
LEFT IS NOT ALLOWED
However, Cadillac has always been famous for its shine, power, and stunning beauty. But on Moscow roads, half of its pomp disappears — here you have to fight for survival. So I immediately switched the automatic transmission selector to Sport mode, without which you cannot feel all the advantages of the advanced Magnetic Ride Control damping system and variable-assist steering.
When we got onto the off-road, it turned out that the SRX is quite nimble there too. Only the front overhang and the almost three-meter wheelbase interfered. The traction control electronics behaved capriciously, like a woman: sometimes it agreed, sometimes it refused to work. It demanded consistency in pressing the gas and forbade turning the steering wheel to the left. However, to the right as well. I had to keep the wheel straight to fool the electronic collar.
Low fuel consumption for an American is an insult
The multimedia screen should be higher. Isn't it?
After overcoming bumps and potholes, the creaks in the cabin doubled. "Probably it's the sunroof," I thought. To test the guess, I opened it, but closing it had to be done together with the photographer. We pushed the glass roof from both outside and inside. And it was raining outside…
Beautiful outside, cozy inside, with magnetorheological fluid dampers (like Ferrari!), Cadillac has been and remains an American car, and US technology has always been woven from contradictions. Such is its nature.
