Chery E5: prices and specifications

1 generations Country of origin: China

The Chery E5 sedan is a C-class model, whose name originates from the Elara model produced since 2006. The car is built on the same platform. According to the new global classification of the Chinese brand, C-class models received alphanumeric designations. The Chery E5 became one of these cars, opening the company's modern C-class lineup.

Development of the model began in 2008. The proven Elara sedan was taken as a basis — its chassis, components, and assemblies formed the foundation of the prototype. A large group of the company's research staff participated in creating the prototype, so the working name was Science City Sedan. Special attention was paid to safety: the body structure was reinforced. Road tests took place in 2009–2010 in China and Russia. The official premiere of the Chery E5 took place in 2011 at the Shanghai Auto Show. In some markets, including Ukraine, the model replaced the Chery Elara.

The car arrived in Ukraine in May 2012. It stands out with a stylish front end: a chrome U-shaped grille with three horizontal "blades," a front bumper with a wide air intake in the center, and new prism-shaped headlights. Even in the base version, the Chery E5 is equipped with active (ABS and EBD) and passive (two front airbags) safety systems, air conditioning, and power accessories.

For the Ukrainian market, only one engine is available — a 1.5-liter gasoline unit from the ACTECO division, which develops powertrains not only for Chery but also for the Italian brand Fiat. It works in conjunction with a five-speed manual transmission. Drive — front.
