The price increase really came as a surprise. It has long been clear that a fare of 50 kopecks is abnormal, but raising the cost fourfold at once is too drastic a step. As for differentiating the fare by distance, it should be introduced not in 2010, but primarily now: paying the same for a couple of stops as for a trip from one end of the route to the other is simply illogical. Where is the world heading.

It's just the traffic police hedging their bets so that after the introduction of new fines, drivers won't feel like switching to public transport.
