The car flew more than a hundred meters!

May 31, 2011 · A reader note from the archive

The host of the American version of Top Gear, Tanner Foust, has broken the world record for the longest car jump. A specially built car for this stunt accelerated on a ramp located at a height of more than 27 meters. After descending from it, the car traveled a straight section of 30.5 meters, at the end of which there was a ski jump. As a result, the car flew 101.2 meters over the race track and successfully landed on another ramp, stopping in a gravel trap. The new result surpassed the previous achievement by 9.45 meters. The show was organized by the toy car manufacturer Hot Wheels, and the venue was the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
