The youth-oriented Suzuki Liana debuted in 2001 and remained in production until 2007. The name Liana, under which the car was sold in Europe, stands for "Life In A New Age." This emphasized the company's fresh perspective on what a car for young people should be. In other markets, the model was known as the Aerio.
The car was available in two body types: sedan and hatchback. It offered a wide range of gasoline and diesel engines, paired with a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. Drive was only front-wheel.
