Opel Vivaro: model range overview

Opel Vivaro is a multifunctional commercial vehicle developed by the German company in collaboration with Nissan and Renault. The model name comes from the word "viva," which means "victory."

First generation

The first generation of the model, created by the efforts of engineers and designers from Renault, Nissan, and Opel, appeared on the assembly line in 1981. The main goal of this collaboration was to create competition in the commercial transport market against manufacturers such as Ford, Fiat, and Volkswagen. The German version of the vehicle, production of which started in 1997, was named Arena. It was offered in two body styles: a cargo-passenger van and a passenger minivan. The vehicle was front-wheel drive and was equipped with a wide range of petrol engines that worked exclusively with a five-speed manual transmission.

Second generation

The second generation of the model was introduced in 2001 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The exterior and interior work was carried out by French specialists, while German designers only made individual adjustments to the appearance of the updated vehicle. From this point on, the model has been produced in two wheelbase options: standard (up to seven seats in the passenger version) and long (up to nine seats in the passenger version).

In 2006, the company carried out a facelift of the model: the radiator grille, front and rear bumpers, headlights, and taillights were changed. In addition, the vehicle received updated engines and transmission. From the same year, production of the model was moved from the UK to Spain.

In 2010, at the Hanover Motor Show, Opel presented the concept of the electric version Vivaro e-Concept, demonstrating the brand's desire to develop environmental technologies in this segment of vehicles.

Modifications for Ukraine

On the Ukrainian market, the Opel Vivaro is available in both cargo-passenger (Van) and passenger (Vivaro Combi) modifications. The passenger version, offered with a short or long wheelbase, is equipped with a 2.0-liter petrol engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The vehicle has front-wheel drive.
