The four-seat sports coupe Opel Tigra changed its country of production twice in its history. The first generation, known as the Tigra and produced as a coupe, rolled off the assembly lines of German Opel plants in Spain from 1994 to 2000. After a four-year hiatus, the second generation of the model began to be assembled at the company's French facilities. At the same time, the TwinTop prefix appeared in the name, indicating that the car had become a coupe-cabriolet. The second generation was built on the platform of the Corsa hatchback. It offered two gasoline engines with a displacement of 1.4 and 1.8 liters, as well as a diesel engine with a displacement of 1.3 liters. The transmission was only a five-speed manual. Drive was front-wheel.
