Mitsubishi Outlander XL 2.4. From 937,732 RUB.
Mitsubishi Outlander XL has received another version. It is based on a fresh 2.4 MIVEC engine. The unit has become lighter and more powerful than its predecessor.
The SUV with the XL suffix, emphasizing its dimensions, is now available with a new 2.4 MIVEC engine. The three-liter version has already won the hearts of drivers in Russia. And no wonder: the powerful engine is complemented by expressive looks and predictable road behavior.
Now it is joined by a 2.4-liter unit. This is not just another line in the price list, but a completely new development that aims to lead Mitsubishi Motors Corporation's engine lineup. What makes it special?
First, let's compare it with its three-liter sibling. The power deficit is significant — a full 50 horsepower. However, other figures are not so different. Such an Outlander accelerates to 100 km/h 1.1 seconds slower. The top speed is only 10 km/h lower, at 190 km/h. In real driving, the lack of power is not felt too acutely.
The new engine is paired either with the familiar five-speed manual or with a CVT that does not spoil the impression of the lively motor. Good performance is largely due to the successful combination of engine and transmission. But the power unit itself deserves a separate discussion. It is made using the latest technology: the aluminum cylinder block is die-cast. The cylinder head and intake manifold are made on the same principle. All this made it possible to lighten the structure by 30% compared to the previous version. In addition, engineers changed the valve drive mechanism, which made the engine lose another 16 kg and become more compact — instead of a belt drive, a chain is used. On the highway, such an engine consumes only 9.3 liters of gasoline per 100 km.
Driving
The suspension pleases with comfort, but does not seem overly soft. Body roll in corners is minimal.
Interior
Inside, it is quite spacious, but not the most pleasant surprise is the somewhat hard plastic trim.
Price
Given the similar characteristics to the three-liter version, the price tag looks quite attractive.
Pros and cons
+ Predictable handling, excellent brakes, comfortable interior.
- Poorly organized spare wheel mounting, hard plastic.
