The interior of this station wagon feels like a full-fledged living space. The suspension absorbs bumps so well that the world outside the windows looks like a film reel. The only thing that slightly annoys is the four-cylinder diesel, which sounds a bit rough at low revs, and its tone cannot be called refined. But against the backdrop of overall comfort, this is more of a nitpick.
A two-liter engine with two turbochargers produces 204 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. For a car of this size, the appetite is simply ridiculous: in the combined cycle, it fits into 6.1 liters per hundred kilometers.
The engine works in conjunction with a five-speed automatic, which can no longer be called the newest (the seven-speed 7G-tronic gearbox is available only for six-cylinder versions). However, the shifts are so smooth that you hardly notice them, and in character, this automatic transmission seems made for this car.
MONITORING SYSTEMS
The E-Class station wagon is packed with electronics to the brim: here you have active cruise control Distronic Plus, a road sign scanner, and a driver fatigue sensor. Despite the massive rear end, it looks no less elegant than the sedan on which it is based.
ORDER IN EVERYTHING
The trunk is simply gigantic! Its shape is very convenient, and the floor is level with the threshold. If you look into the underfloor, the useful volume reaches almost 700 liters. The Easy Pack system (for an extra $551, or 4401 hryvnias) ensures that things stay in place during the trip. If you need to transport something large, the second row folds down with a simple pull of the handles on the side walls. Moreover, if the front seats are pushed back and get in the way, they automatically move forward. As a result, the trunk volume grows to 1950 liters, and the length of the loading area to two and a half meters. Such figures are more expected from a van than from a passenger station wagon.
