About the Lincoln brand
United States founded in 1917 Model range
The American automaker Lincoln was founded in 1917 by Henry Leland — the same man who had previously created the Cadillac brand. He chose the company's name in honor of the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln.
Originally, the enterprise was called the Lincoln Motor Company. In 1920, it was renamed the Lincoln Motor Car Company of Delaware. However, by 1922, Leland was forced to sell the company to Ford.
Today, Lincoln remains part of the Ford corporation and occupies the niche of a luxury brand within it.
