About the Hummer brand

The American brand Hummer was founded in 1991. Its origins are linked to the military vehicle HMMWV (Humvee), which AM General developed for the U.S. Army. When the civilian version Hummer H1 appeared, General Motors decided to sell this model under the independent brand Hummer.
Later, the brand's lineup included two more models — H2 and H3. Both were built on the platform of Chevrolet SUVs.
