The Romanian company Dacia appeared in 1968. The brand owes its appearance to the Renault company, which built a plant in Romania to assemble its models under the Dacia brand. The company is named after the ancient name of Romania — Dacia.
As a subsidiary, the Dacia brand became part of the Renault Group in 1998.
