The American brand Chrysler was founded in 1925 by Walter Percy Chrysler on the basis of the Maxwell Motor Car company. Over time, the enterprise grew into a large corporation.
In 1998, Chrysler Corporation merged with Daimler-Benz, forming the DaimlerChrysler AG concern. However, in 2007, this alliance dissolved, and Chrysler came under the control of the investment group Cerberus.
The structure of Chrysler Corporation also includes the Dodge and Jeep brands.
