The joint venture "GM-AVTOVAZ" has started production of the modernized version of the Chevrolet Niva SUV. This model has been produced since 2002 and is consistently among the sales leaders. Let's figure out what has changed in the updated version.
During the restyling, 60 changes were made to the Chevrolet Niva design, and most of them concern the exterior. The front bumper is now made together with the radiator grille, which has two additional air intakes added. The rear bumper has also been redesigned, equipped with a pair of ventilation grilles. The new body elements are made of impact-resistant plastic. The front and rear optics were also updated. As for fog lights, they are not installed on all versions of the car. There are also changes inside. Cup holders and niches for various small items have appeared on the central tunnel - this will certainly please future owners. But moving the seat heating buttons to the front console may not be to everyone's liking. Two lamps were placed on the ceiling - for front and rear passengers, as well as a glasses box.The steering wheel has become three-spoke, it is supplied by TRW, and it provides a place for an airbag. However, GM-AVTOVAZ plans to introduce passive safety systems no earlier than the end of 2010. Currently, a project is being developed to modernize the engine, transmission, and suspension. SUVs, of course, become outdated more slowly than ordinary passenger cars, but they also need restyling from time to time. The price of the issue is as follows: the update added $1,013 (8,101 UAH) to the cost of the Niva.
