Jeep Compass: prices and specifications

4 generations Country of origin: United States

Jeep Compass is one of the first crossovers from the well-known American automotive company, created in collaboration with Daimler. The model name translates from English as the word "compass," which is understandable to Slavs.

At the beginning of the 21st century, Jeep decided to expand its model range by creating vehicles of a new format – crossovers with a progressive unibody construction. One such vehicle was to be a compact city crossover, development of which began in 2001. A year later, at the Detroit Auto Show, the company presented a concept of the future model, which was a three-door version, equipped with the brand's all-wheel drive system and a 3.7-liter gasoline engine. However, this modification did not last long: the manufacturer wanted a more practical car, so the following year a five-door modification of the crossover was produced, undergoing test trials on the roads of Western Europe, Canada, and the USA.

The presentation of the production version of the Jeep Compass took place in 2006 at the Detroit Auto Show. The car was built on the global GS platform, developed by Daimler-Chrysler and Mitsubishi. The crossover was front-wheel drive as standard, with all-wheel drive as an option. For the first few years, the car was produced under the supervision of Daimler-Chrysler engineers, but by 2008, the model was manufactured independently by Chrysler (which owns Jeep).
In 2011, the company carried out a facelift of the Jeep Compass, as a result of which the crossover became similar to the flagship Grand Cherokee SUV. In addition to exterior changes, the interior of the model was updated. Technically, almost everything remained unchanged – engineers only recalibrated the car's suspension, which had a positive effect on handling. The model underwent another restyling in 2012 – the debut of the updated version took place at the Detroit Auto Show.

In Ukraine, the Jeep Compass crossover has been officially supplied since 2010.
The model is equipped with a gasoline (2.4-liter) and a diesel (2.1-liter) engine, which are paired with a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission.
The car's drive is all-wheel drive.
