Jaguar F-Type is the most compact model in the brand's lineup, designed to compete with the Porsche Boxster, Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class, Audi TT, and BMW Z4. The letter 'F' in the name indicates that it is the sixth roadster in the company's history (counting in the English alphabet), the successor to the famous E-Type sports car.
Development of the model began in 2009. Engineers and designers created several prototypes, of which management approved only one — the C-X16. The exterior design was handled by body designer Ian Callum. Over the course of a year, the prototype was tested on roads in the UK and France, and in 2011 it was shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Jaguar representatives noted that the new model is one of the most compact cars in the brand's history since the Jaguar XK120, which was produced in 1954. The prototype was equipped with a hybrid 3.0-liter engine, but the manufacturer promised that the production version would come with a gasoline engine as standard.
The Jaguar F-Type was officially presented at the Paris Motor Show in 2012. The model is available in two body types: coupe and convertible. In addition to the standard versions, 'charged' F-Type-R modifications were released. The car is built on a modified rear-wheel-drive platform of the XK convertible with a shortened wheelbase of 2622 mm. It was assumed that an all-wheel-drive version would appear in the future. The seating formula is 1+1.
Deliveries of the Jaguar F-Type to Ukraine began in May 2013. Initially, the car was brought in a convertible body, later the roadster was also presented. On the Ukrainian market, the model is offered with two gasoline engines with a displacement of 3.0 and 5.0 liters. Both units work in tandem with an eight-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift function. The drive is rear-wheel, and an all-wheel-drive modification is available as an option.
