28. Driving on mountain roads and steep descents

28. DRIVING ON MOUNTAIN ROADS AND STEEP DESCENTS*

* The requirements of this section apply to road sections marked with signs 1.6 and 1.7.

28.1. On mountain roads and steep descents where passing is difficult, the driver of a vehicle moving downhill must yield the right of way to vehicles moving uphill.

28.2. On mountain roads and steep descents, the driver of a truck whose permissible maximum weight exceeds 3.5 tons, a tractor, and a bus must:

a) use special mountain brakes if they are installed on the vehicle by the manufacturer;

b) during a stop or parking on ascents and descents, use wheel chocks.

28.3. On mountain roads, it is prohibited:

a) to move with the engine off and the clutch or gear disengaged;

b) to tow with a flexible coupling;

c) any towing during icy conditions.
