13. DISTANCE, INTERVAL, ONCOMING PASSING

13.1. The driver, depending on the speed of movement, road conditions, characteristics of the cargo being transported, and the condition of the vehicle, must maintain a safe distance and a safe interval.

13.2. On roads outside populated areas, drivers of vehicles whose speed does not exceed 40 km/h must maintain such a distance that vehicles performing overtaking have the opportunity to return unhindered to their previously occupied lane.

This requirement does not apply if the driver of a slow-moving vehicle gives warning signals about performing an overtaking or bypassing maneuver.

13.3. When overtaking, passing, bypassing an obstacle, or in oncoming passing, it is necessary to maintain a safe interval so as not to create a danger to road traffic.

13.4. If oncoming passing is difficult, the driver on whose lane there is an obstacle or whose vehicle's dimensions interfere with oncoming traffic must give way. On road sections marked with signs 1.6 "Steep ascent" and 1.7 "Steep descent", in the presence of an obstacle, the driver of the vehicle moving downhill must give way.
