BlueMotion is a proprietary development of the Volkswagen Group aimed at reducing fuel consumption and lowering emissions. The essence of the technology comes down to a set of measures that affect engine calibration, transmission operation, body aerodynamics, and tire type. The first application of this system was carried out on the Volkswagen Polo in 2006.
