Geely Emgrand X7: prices and specifications

1 generations Country of origin: China

Geely Emgrand X7 is a compact crossover that became the first model of this type in the Ukrainian brand lineup (although Geely has many other crossovers in China). In the name, "X" indicates its crossover class, and the number "7" denotes its sequential number in the model range of this class.

Development of the crossover started in 2008. Engineers based it on the popular Toyota RAV4 (this is not the first Chinese analog of the "Ravlik" — just recall the Chery Tiggo). The Geely Emgrand X7 and Toyota RAV4 share similar body and chassis, but the Chinese model's exterior design is largely original. The exterior was developed by Italians: the car has its own grille, headlights, hood, taillights, front and rear bumpers. The sides feature characteristic stampings that give a stylish look and improve aerodynamics.

The interior of the Geely Emgrand X7 is completely different from the Toyota one: unlike the exterior, the cabin focuses on simplicity and practicality, which is not entirely typical for Chinese cars. Test trials of the crossover began in mid-2009 and took place in China and Mongolia. The prototype was shown in 2010 at the Shanghai Auto Show, and the production version was officially presented in 2011 at the Beijing Auto Show.

In Ukraine, the Geely Emgrand X7 was presented in May 2012. The car is offered with three gasoline engines: 1.8, 2.0, and 2.4 liters. The base transmission is a five-speed manual gearbox, with an optional six-speed automatic transmission. The car comes standard with front-wheel drive, and plug-in all-wheel drive is available as an option.
