How to distinguish an unofficially imported ("gray") car. Difficulties of operating "gray" cars. 

Today, the only exclusive supplier of Subaru cars to the territory of Ukraine is the distribution company "Subaru Ukraine", which has a network of official partners and dealers. A "gray" (unofficially imported) car is a car purchased from unofficial dealers and not covered by the original distributor warranty of "Subaru Ukraine".

When purchasing a car from the official dealer network, you get the following advantages: 

1) Official warranty,
The warranty on official Subaru cars is 3 years or 100,000 km (whichever comes first; except for Impreza WRX STI cars, the warranty on which is 30,000 km or 2 years of mileage) and you can apply for a warranty case throughout the entire official network of "Subaru Ukraine" (currently 15 Ukrainian cities). Despite the fact that many unofficial dealers offer their own warranty, in practice obtaining it is difficult and refusal to provide it is a common occurrence. The lack of a spare parts warehouse and qualified personnel reduce the effectiveness of the unofficial warranty to zero

2) Authorized service, use of original spare parts
This means that maintenance will be carried out in compliance with all technological processes and standards of the manufacturer by specially trained personnel of official authorized service stations using original spare parts, the necessary stock of which is always available in dealers' warehouses (unofficial dealers practically do not have a sufficient stock of spare parts for prompt service maintenance). Service station personnel constantly undergo special training on the Subaru brand

3) Cars intended for the European market, meeting all its requirements and prepared for the Ukrainian winter

In addition to the lack of an original warranty and authorized service, it is worth noting that there is a high probability of purchasing an unofficial Subaru car that is not intended for operation in European conditions (for example, Middle East configuration) and which differs in the following features:
- non-compliance with Euro 4
- engine electronic control unit settings are not designed for operation at low temperatures.
- all operational (technological) fluids and rubber products are not designed for operation in winter, especially in frost;
- the cabin heating system (heater) has much lower performance
- lack of heated exterior mirrors
- a smaller battery not designed for starting the engine in frost.
- etc.

4) Legality of supplies from the official distributor.
You will never face customs or other problems. All cars are officially imported, all fees and taxes have been paid. Unofficial dealers, on the other hand, may import cars that have not undergone full customs clearance, are stolen, or have been in natural disasters, which may subsequently turn into problems for the end consumer.

The listed features, with all the ensuing negative consequences, make the operation of such a car in Ukrainian conditions extremely difficult, and in winter - almost impossible.
