BYD appeared in 1995 and initially made batteries. Now BYD Co., Ltd works in three directions: information technology, car production and alternative energy. The company ranks first in the world in the production of batteries and energy-saving systems.
Since 2003, BYD has been assembling cars in parallel with batteries, offering reliability and modern solutions at an affordable price. It is the only Chinese brand whose cars are shown at the Geneva Motor Show, and the company's offices are open on all continents. Factories are located in China, as well as in Europe and Japan.
Since 2008, the company has launched mass production and sales of hybrids, a year later the production of electric vehicles began, and in 2010 a joint project with Daimler AG to create such cars started. In 2009, American investor Warren Buffett became a major shareholder of BYD. In 2010, the company produced more than five hundred thousand cars, taking first place in the ranking of the most technologically advanced companies in the world according to Business Week (ahead of Apple and Google) and second place among automakers (ahead of Ford, Volkswagen and BMW). In 2010-2011, BYD signed cooperation agreements with government agencies of a number of European countries.
Today, BYD's model range includes 14 cars, including the e6 electric car, the K9 electric bus and three hybrid passenger models, and this list is constantly expanding. In Ukraine, six models of classes A, C, C-high, E and SUV are planned to be presented in 2011.
BYD considers its goal to be the introduction of advanced technologies for the production of high-quality and environmentally friendly products. The company is betting on clean and efficient energy sources, implementing the concept of "three green dreams": solar energy, energy saving and the transfer of transport to electricity. The brand's motto is "the basis is technology, the focus is on innovation", and the main task is the constant improvement of products so that they make the world better.
The company's plans include entering the ranks of the world leaders in the automotive industry.
