According to representatives of AvtoVAZ, the updated transmission has become noticeably quieter and more convenient, and they also managed to eliminate the problem of lubricant freezing in severe frosts. Additionally, engineers managed to achieve a 30 percent reduction in oil consumption.

Over two decades, Russian specialists were unable to cope with the increased travel of the gearbox lever, so they decided to involve experts from the British company Ricardo. Foreign engineers managed to improve the shifting mechanism and achieve a more successful combination of travel length and width.

To ensure that the new transmission could be installed on the Priora without modifications, it was necessary to update the casting process of the crankcases, assembly of components, and processing of parts, as well as purchase new equipment. It is noted that all changes were implemented during the planned shutdown of the assembly line. The work was carried out in late April - early May 2014.
